TNCT Reflection
Being a Humanities and Social Sciences student is not easy, yes, it may not involve the usage of calculators or the stressful memorization of the periodical table and mathematical equations but being a HUMSS students is not all about just readings and writing cute and lovely poems. Having to invest our time into enhancing our critical thinking and comprehensive skills is a must for us students who specializes in the field of politics, economics, psychology, sociology, history and culture. Not all of us were born or bound to excel in the fields of social science by being a critical thinker and a good student who can analyze well, but thanks to our specialized subjects, we were able to comply and withstand the standards that has been set for us, HUMSS students in order to full enhance and unravel the different parts, levels and aspects of our chosen field.
With that being said, I myself, find TNCT as one of the subjects that helped me mold my skills and be the student I am today. Trends, Networks and Critical thinking specializes on the sociological field of our subject and it became our connecting path to fully understand and obtain a grasp of what sociology is, the role of critical thinking and analyzing to our academic study. Having TNCT as one of our specialized subject, we are able to take one step forward on learning the different advances of social sciences. Trends, as the word itself, focus mainly on the current “in” or trending thing in this period. We study the different aspects as well as the real definition of trends and how it can be very much applicable to integrate it with social science and to also integrate it to our daily exposure to the society. We were tasked to create a trend analysis on our chosen topic, and sooner or later, I come to realize the importance of what we were doing, during those time where we would do the trend analysis, I really made an effort on doing researchers and searching for information about my certain topic, until my explanations are not well supported, I do not stop on searching and studying about my topic during that time, I realized that my capabilities had its extension and it gave me a chance to prove myself that I cannot just settle for less, as a HUMSS student, one of the important traits that I picked up to this subject is always practice on never settling for the less, might as well focus on the things that should be important and give it your all into producing a thomasian-kind of work, I made sure that my paper was full with sufficient and neccessary details that can help support my work. After that, I realized that I can do things like this since I enjoyed doing that kind of work, it came to me that being a critical learner and someone who thinks in different perspective can help me achieve my goal and provide me sufficient knowledge on the things thatvreally matters the most and help me excel in my academic field.
